For Fractional Sponsor Clients
If your company is enrolled in Apprentix’s Fractional Sponsor program, we’ll work with you during Orientation to determine which of your existing training already counts as classroom credit for the Craft Laborer (Solar Installer) occupation.
✅ Every Fractional Sponsor client receives credit for the training they already do.
Some companies choose to supplement their training with additional resources from trusted providers listed below.
Training Providers (Virtual Instructor-Led Training – VILT)
1. HeatSpring
heatspring.com/courses
Professional clean energy and solar training, including NABCEP-approved installer and project manager courses.
2. Solar Energy International (SEI)
solarenergy.org
Globally recognized solar training organization with beginner-to-advanced PV installation and workforce development programs.
3. SkillBuilders Solutions
skillbuilderssolutions.org
Provides clean energy workforce training and upskilling solutions, designed to be flexible for contractors and apprentices.
Curriculum Resources
4. Pearson
Pearson publishes the official Craft Laborer curriculum and a Solar Installer curriculum.
Craft Laborer Curriculum – available only in book format.
Solar Installer Curriculum – portions available in print, with some content possibly available digitally.
These resources provide a structured way to deliver apprenticeship-related instruction internally.
5. NCCER (National Center for Construction Education & Research)
NCCER programs use the same Pearson-published curriculum listed above.
The key differences are:
NCCER is not required to train apprentices — you can buy and use Pearson’s books directly.
NCCER is only needed if you want to establish your company as an accredited training center. This provides additional recognition and recordkeeping but is not necessary for IRA compliance.
Choosing Your Approach
Fractional Sponsor clients: Start by leveraging credit for training you already provide.
VILT Providers: Add expert-led virtual training if you want external instruction.
Pearson Curriculum: Deliver classroom hours internally, customized to your workforce.
NCCER Accreditation: Consider only if you want to become a formal training center.
📌 Next Steps:
Confirm with Apprentix which of your existing training counts during Orientation.
Decide if you want to add external providers or Pearson curriculum.
Track all classroom hours in Apprentix to maintain Department of Labor compliance and IRA eligibility.
✅ By combining your existing training with these supplemental resources, your Craft Laborer (Solar Installer) apprentices will stay on track for program completion and compliance.
