October 1, 2025 - Impact of government shutdown
With the government shut down, all apprenticeship-related Dept. of Labor activities are halted. That means the following for contractors who have joined our program:
Apprentice registration, cancellation, suspension, and completion - You can submit all of these activities in Apprentix still but the Dept. of Labor will not approve them till they return to work. They will approve them retroactively so that's not an issue, keep apprentice statuses up-to-date in Apprentix and we'll handle the rest with the Dept. of Labor.
New Davis-Bacon Certificates - We cannot issue Davis-Bacon certificates until an apprentice is registered and since the Dept. of Labor won't be registering anyone during this shutdown, we won't be able to provide you with Davis-Bacon certificates. That said, once the government is up and running again, Davis-Bacon certificates will be issued with the start date that you initially entered in the apprenticeship agreement so in effect, you can count hours as of that date.
Renew Davis-Bacon Certificates - We are still able to renew Davis-Bacon certificates and will continue to do so.
Reciprocity Requests - The following 27 states are staffed by Federal employees which means reciprocity requests into these states will be delayed until the government opens up again. If your state is not listed below, then it is staffed by a state employee which means they are still working.
