The on-the-job plan in Apprentix allows you to add two types of competencies:
Time Tracking
Evaluations
Job Functions
The on-the-job plan is a two-tiered approach where you first add a Job Function and then you can add as many Competencies under that Job Function. Time is tracked and evaluations are conducted at the Competency-level, not at the Job Function-level.
How to add Time Tracking competencies
In order for you to track time against competencies, you must add those competencies and select Competency Type = Time Tracking. Now, when time is entered, only a list of Competencies will display where Time Tracking is the Competency Type. No Competency Type = Evaluations will display in the Time Tracking section.
In the left hand navigation, click on "Open apprenticeship details"
You will be taken to the apprenticeship details page where you can make edits
On the left hand navigation, click on "On-the-Job Plan"
Find which Job Function you'd like to add an evaluation under and then click on the three dots next to the Job Function > select Add competency
Fill out the fields and select "Competency type = Time Tracking"
Add all the competencies you'd like to track for time and once saved, click on the link in the upper left corner "Return to Manage Portal"
Now return to Performance Tracking > Time Tracking
Click New
Select Activity = Competency
Select the Job Function first, then select the Competency
Fill out the rest of the form fields and click Save
How to add competencies to evaluate
In order for you to evaluate apprentices on competencies, you must add those competencies and select Competency Type = Evaluation. Now, when a new evaluation is performed, only a list of Competencies will display where Evaluations is the Competency Type. No Competency Type = Time Tracking will display in the Evaluations section.

Find which Job Function you'd like to add an evaluation under and then click on the three dots next to the Job Function > select Add competency
Fill out the fields and select either "Competency type = Time Tracking" or "Competency type = Evaluation"
Add all the competencies you'd like to track and once saved, click on the link in the upper left corner "Return to Manage Portal"
Now return to Performance Tracking > Evaluations
Click New
Select type = Competency
Select the Job Function first, then select the Competency
Fill out the rest of the form fields including the rating and click Save
