How To Add A Classroom Plan & Courses
Updated over a week ago

Classroom learning is a required component in all apprenticeships designed to provide an apprentice with the theoretical knowledge they need.

Classroom theory also provides context to the apprenticeship, so an apprentice better understands the skills they are developing when learning on-the-job.

A minimum of 12 classroom hours per month is required.

Step 1: Add Classroom Plan

  1. Click Add Classroom Plan and select when apprentices will be taking courses.

    1. You can customize when each course is to be taken when adding courses.

    2. Be clear on when you expect apprentices to take courses so that they manage their time correctly.

  2. Select full-time or co-op.

    1. Let apprentices know whether they will be working a full-time job or if they will be taking classes at a community college in a co-op program.

  3. Select training provider.

    1. Select ‘Yes’ if training will be provided in-house by your company.

    2. Select ‘No’ if training will be provided by an outside provider.

      1. Enter the training provider’s information here. Third-party training providers are not provided with access to Apprentix.

    3. Note: If you are operating a registered apprenticeship, you will need this information to enter into RAPIDS.

  4. Enter total cost of courses.

    1. This is a sum of the total costs as you calculate them. Some companies use a hard dollar cost only while others include a soft dollar amount (like allocating training time).

    2. Enter percent of cost covered by Employer.

  5. Enter the percentage that the Employer will cover

    1. Anything less than 100% will be the responsibility of the apprentice and payments will need to be made and handled outside of Apprentix.

  6. Select payment for time spent in classes.

    1. Select the option that fits your company’s program so that the apprentice is clear on whether time spent taking classes is covered by their wage.

Step 2: Add Courses

  1. Course Name

    1. Enter the course name so that it is clear and obvious to the apprentice.

    2. Reorder: Add a leading number to the name of a course to specify its desired position (they will be sorted from low to high).

  2. Course Link

    1. Provide a link for the apprentice to click on to be taken directly to the course.

  3. When will this course be taken

    1. Select when exactly you expect this course to be taken. This may be different than what you selected as to when courses in general are to be taken.

      1. Prior to OJL - this course must be taken before on-the-job learning begins.

      2. During OJL - this course must be taken while learning on-the-job.

  4. Core
