How to Submit a Reciprocity Request

Learn how Fractional Sponsor clients can submit a reciprocity request to work outside Texas. Includes steps, requirements, and state notes.

Updated over a week ago

Only Fractional Sponsor clients can submit a reciprocity request. This allows you to perform work in a state outside of Texas while keeping your apprentices registered under Apprentix.

⚠️ Important: Apprentix will not process reciprocity requests for California or New York, as we choose not to do business there due to their regulations.

How to Submit a Request

  1. Contact Support

  2. Include the following information in your request:

    • Project location (address or county + state)

    • Estimated project start date

    • Apprenticeship occupations needed (e.g., Laborer, Operator, Electrician, Pipefitter, Surveyor, Wind Turbine Technician)

👉 Note: You cannot request reciprocity for an occupation your company is not already registered for under Apprentix.

What Happens After You Submit

  • Same-Day Submission: Apprentix files your reciprocity paperwork the same day we receive your request with complete information.

  • State Variability:

    • About half of U.S. states use a similar process

    • The other half have different forms, laws, or approval councils

  • Additional Information: We’ll contact you if the state agency requests more details.

  • Compliance Reminder: By requesting reciprocity, you’re agreeing to follow that state’s wage, hour, ratio, and licensing requirements.

Quick Recap

  • Reciprocity is available only to Fractional Sponsor clients

  • Requests are not available in CA or NY

  • Cost: $1,000 per state (see pricing article for details)

  • Apprentix initiates the request same day, but final approval timelines depend on the state
