Sponsorship & Compliance
Q: What is a fractional sponsor?
A fractional sponsor is when Apprentix acts as the official registered sponsor, so you don’t have to create your own program or join a union.
Q: How quickly can we become compliant?
Same day. Once you join, your employees can be registered as apprentices immediately.
Q: Who enforces compliance?
The IRS enforces IRA requirements (because of tax credits).
The Department of Labor enforces apprenticeship rules.
Private compliance and auditing firms may also review documentation.
Q: Do I have to recruit new apprentices through Apprentix?
No. You convert your own employees into registered apprentices using our platform.
Apprenticeship Program
Q: What trades/occupations are supported?
Apprentix is federally approved in six:
Craft laborer
Heavy equipment operator
Electrician
Surveyor
Wind turbine technician
Pipe fitter
Q: Can apprentices work across state lines?
Yes. Apprentix uses reciprocity agreements to allow apprentices to work nationwide without re-registering in every state. The only two states that Apprentix does not work in are California and New York.
Q: Does Apprentix's apprenticeship program work in California or New York?
No. Apprentix intentionally does not do business in California or New York at this time due to their unions and laws prohibiting out-of-state programs such as ours from operating in their state. If you need registered apprentices in California or New York, you will need to contact their state apprenticeship agency to find an in-state program that you can use.
Q: How does classroom instruction work?
Contractors can provide in-house training or use third-party education providers. Apprentix supplies the standards but does not deliver technical instruction. Apprentix will map what you're already doing to the standards for non-licensed trades so that you can get credit for what you're already doing.
Q: Can Apprentix help us find education providers?
Yes, Apprentix will make introductions to you for education providers relevant to the craft.
