What to Do After a Job or Project is Finished

Learn what to do with apprentices after a project ends—track hours, update statuses, and maximize your Apprentix plan.

Updated this week

Keep your apprentices on track

Even though the job or project is done, your registered apprentices can (and should!) continue progressing through their apprenticeship programs. All you need to do is keep tracking their hours each month in Apprentix.

Want to stop reporting apprentices?

If you’re sure you no longer want to continue the apprenticeship program for one or more individuals, you’ll need to update their status in Apprentix:

  • Suspend: Use this if there's a chance you'll bring them back later. This keeps their progress saved and lets you easily reactivate them.

  • Cancel: Use this if they’re done with the program permanently.

  • ⚠️ Only mark an apprentice as Completed if they have fully finished all required hours for their apprenticeship program—not just the job they were working on.

Reminder: Your 1-year plan is still active

Your company has already paid for a 1-year plan with us. That means if you have another project during that time—even months from now—you can still add apprentices and we’ll handle all the compliance, at no extra cost.

TL;DR

  • Keep tracking monthly hours to help your apprentices progress—even if the job is done.

  • Only mark them as “Completed” if they’ve finished the full apprenticeship program.

  • Use Suspend or Cancel if you're ending their participation early.

  • Your plan is good for a full year, so take advantage of it!
